Classed Choropleth Map

http://indiemapper.com/education/labs/1/Choropleth_Lab_Indiemapper.pdf
The above map uses a 5-class equal interval classification scheme (1-10, 11-20,...).  The classification makes it easier for map readers to understand the data and what is going on in the map. Choropleth maps are used when data can be connected with numbers, data can be statistical and/or show ratios in an area.
" In a classed choropleth map, areal units are combined into a smaller number of groups and portrayed in intervals"
